Shopify Plus Apps: Order Routing, Checkout and Subscriptions

These are three separate projects for three confidential Shopify Plus merchants, grouped here because they use the same toolkit: Shopify apps, webhooks, Shopify Functions and checkout extensibility. A D2C brand needed orders split by warehouse zone and stock synced from its ERP. A retail merchant wanted delivery scheduling, mandatory gift messages for some SKUs and a post-purchase upsell inside Shopify's checkout. A consumables brand wanted subscribe-and-save without an expensive third-party subscription app.

Objectives & Business Need
Add logic each merchant needed that native Shopify and off-the-shelf apps couldn't provide, while staying on Shopify's hosted, PCI-compliant checkout.
02 // The Result
Impact & Performance Outcomes
Automated warehouse-zone routing and two-way ERP inventory sync for the D2C brand; checkout customizations on Shopify's hosted checkout, configurable from the theme editor; and subscribe-and-save with self-service pause, skip and cancel on Shopify's native Subscriptions API.
Engineering the Solution
Order routing: a private embedded app with OAuth install, webhook handlers for orders and inventory, ERP integration with retry queues, on AWS Lambda with Redis for idempotency. Checkout: Checkout UI Extensions for a delivery date picker with blackout rules and conditional gift messages, cart validation via Shopify Functions, and a post-purchase upsell. Subscriptions: selling plan groups via the Subscriptions API, a subscribe toggle on product pages, a customer account extension for managing subscriptions, and Klaviyo reminder emails.

- Custom Shopify storefront for premium ethnic apparel, with rebuilt navigation and optimized media loading for a faster mobile shopping experience.
